5 Card Draw Poker Rules

The rules of 5 Card Draw Poker are very simple and you need only 5 minutes to learn how to play it.

Like in any other poker game, the main goal in 5 Card Draw is to make the best five-card hand after betting and draw round.

5 Card Draw is played with blinds, with the player immediately to the left of the dealer posting the small blind, and the player next left posting the big blind. After posting blinds each player is dealt five hidden hole cards. The first player after the big blind has the option to fold, call, or raise. Action continues clockwise around the poker table until betting is complete for the round.

If more than one player remains after the first betting round, there is a draw round. Each player specifies how many of their cards they wish to replace and discards them. After that each player is dealt in turn from the deck the same number of cards they discarded so that each player again has five cards.

A second betting round occurs beginning with the player to the dealer's left (just like in first betting round).

If more than one player remains in game after second betting round there is a showdawn - players reveal their hands. The player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. If two or more hands have the same value, the pot is equally split among them.

After the pot has been awarded and all cards have been returned, the button moves to a place to the left, and the next hand is ready to begin.
